Naja Steward in Partnership with Regeneración Pajaro Valley
Watsonville, California
My project with Regneraciòn Pajaro Valley is using the climate crisis to create social change. Regeneraciòn received a Transformative Climate Communities planning grant from the state of California which allows them to create new sustainable spaces in Pajaro. My project will address this planning grant by visually representing the history and changes that will be made in Pajaro. A big part of this project is communication with the public, as they must have agency over the changes in their community; therefore, the map’s written elements will be in both English and Spanish and will be as user-friendly as possible. Some of my responsibilities will include driving to Pajaro to take pictures of the underdeveloped areas that may be addressed by the planning grant, building the map with ArcGIS, and coordinating with the planning grant committee.
